Nannie Jamieson Nutshell Fund

Nannie Jamieson was the first Organising Secretary of ESTA British Branch. She was Professor of Viola at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama as well as teaching at Chetham's School and Homerton College, Cambridge. She helped her students to obtain wide experience of teaching by encouraging them to attend courses here and abroad. She often paid the fees out of her own pocket and the Nutshell Fund, established in 1990, continues this aspect of her work.

Joan Dickson Chamber Music Fund

For Joan Dickson, chamber music is the essence of all that is greatest in music and she saw it as infinitely beneficial in the development of young players. The Joan Dickson Fund, established in her memory, is designed to foster the playing of chamber music among the young. Any practical needs can be catered for, such as the setting up of small libraries of music, the hiring of rooms for rehearsing, organising visiting chamber music coaches and helping ensembles to attend courses.

Elspeth Iliff Fund

Elspeth Iliff was Swiss by birth but spent most of her life in the UK. She was a devoted member of ESTA and had an almost evangelical zeal for the ideas of Paul Rolland, which she disseminated widely in Europe. For a number of years Elspeth was vice-president of ESTA and the International Liaison Officer for ESTA(UK). In these two roles she worked tirelessly to bring new branches to ESTA, most particularly from Eastern Europe.

In 2011 the trustees of ESTA decided to set up a bursary fund in memory of Elspeth and with the purpose of fostering International exchange between string teachers. It is intended that the fund will enable ESTA members from any active branch to share pedagogic ideas by attending events and giving workshops outside their home country.
