Arpeggione Intermediate: Evie (13)

This summer holidays, I attended the Intermediate Arpeggione viola course. It was an action-packed week with lots of activities to do. My favourite part of the week was watching and taking part in the masterclasses. I got to improve my technique with expert advice and explored how other people play their instruments. 

I also competed in the Arpeggione music competition; I was awarded a £25 voucher for second place in this. It gave me a chance to perform my music with emotion, and play with an orchestra as a soloist for the first time.  

Arpeggione also gave me a chance to socialise with other musical people and I made lots of new friends who I plan to meet up with this summer holiday. 

I have also been asked to play at a music festival with my new viola quintet. We are going to be playing a Brahms quintet arranged for five violas. 

Thank you so much to the ESTA Joan Dickson Chamber Music Fund for giving me this opportunity. I really enjoyed my time away and had so much fun. I feel like this course has really improved my playing, and my confidence in playing from memory has improved loads.
