A very effective piece to show off dynamic range and skill in providing a sense of both harmony and melody in an unaccompanied piece. Like most of the Waltzes in this collection, the form is A B A and the B section is in the minor. The other Waltzes are also worth exploring.
Rhythmically exciting with many time signature changes but constant quavers grouped in threes or fours or more. A good orchestral audition piece. Indeed it was written for audition for the National Youth Orchestra.
A lively and flamboyant piece by bassist-composer Miloslav Gajdoš showing off the range of possibilities of double stopping on the double bass. Sounds harder than it is, but requires stamina.
Snowman is introduced as a song in sol-fa. Rhythm and pulse are explored before the pupil sees the music and plays it.
