Great for learning to maintain pulse, keeping going and for listening. Both 1st (0 1 23) and 2nd (0 12 3) finger patterns are used.
A good piece for string crossing. It can be played getting faster at the start of each new section.
All the pieces in Technitunes were written with multi-level and multi-instrument group teaching in mind. For violin, viola and cello the top part is all in first position. On the double bass, shifting is required and brings the top part to Grade 3 level. The lower part is in first position for all instruments, though violins will need a high 3rd finger and cellos will need a forward extension.
A very good piece for developing rhythmic and ensemble skills. There are lots of fast semiquavers in regular arpeggio patterns. A contrasting theme requires good articulation.
All twelve of the duos help develop a sense of structure and phrasing in pieces from the Classical period. They help develop slurs and staccato patterns typical of that time. Some duos require third positions while others are slightly easier and suitable for grade 3 players.
This Mexican folksong has syncopation and moves between duplets and triplets. There is an optional double stop section which makes it closer to grade 5. The backing track is really fun. It can also be played with piano accompaniment or as a duo for two violins.
