Miniature Quartet Op.10

Good rhythm skills are needed for the ensemble in this string quartet.

Allegretto: The most straightfoward movement. Satisfyingly in C major with hearty semi-tone clashes and strong dynamic contrast. Works well with younger players.

Canzona: This movement is in Ab. No instrument goes higher than 3rd position. Easily readable with even handed distribution of the melody throughout.

Scherzino: Some tricky alternating subdivisions of 8/8. Cello part uses tenor clef. Altogether the hardest movement but worth learning.

Rondo: A scamper with fast passage work dovetailing between instruments
