Capriol Suite

Suite for String Orchestra (Basse-Danse, Pavane, Tordion, Bransles, Pieds-en-l’air, Mattachins) based on dance tunes from Arbeau’s Orchésographie (1588).

Basse-Danse suitable for Intermediate String Orchestra. Other movements more difficult.

Pavane has important bass part and both cello and bass parts use tenor clef.

No bass part in Pieds-en-l’air.

Tiger Prowl, Tiger Roar

Energetic jazzy style piece with rests and pauses to catch you out. Ends with a big roar!

The viola part is also available for violin 3. The double bass part is optional.

Olga Square Dance

A lively Square Dance where cellos and bass get a chance at the tune as well as the violins. All 1st finger pattern (Violin/viola 0-1-23 Cello 0-1-34 Double Bass 0-1-4).

Scored for 2 violins, viola/violin, cello, double bass (optional), piano (optional).

Also good as quartet/quintet.
