This is good for using the Bb major finger pattern. The lilting Calypso rhythms are repeated frequently to reinforce the pupil’s understanding.
Good for producing confident playing of a simple mainly crotchet based melody in D major. Optional 4th fingers can be added.
As the title suggests, this is all on the A string (except for the double bass). It uses a single finger pattern (0 1 23 for violin/viola and 0 1 34 for cello. The bass uses 0 1 4 and the open D-string). Rests allow for retakes and variety comes from a few semiquavers and one syncopated rhythm that can easily be learned by rote or using work patterns.
Great for using the whole bow, and minims and crotchets. Rests, dynamics and accents add interest. Loved by audiences! Only published for violin and cello but works equally well on viola and bass.
This beautiful melody in D minor is a favourite with both students and parents. It is evocative of French café music and can be played in first or half position. There are a few simple slurs.
