Capriccietto is a playful scherzo-style piece in 3/4, feeling one in a bar, with a contrasting middle section in the minor key. It makes a good concert piece.
It has scalic passage work and requires shifting mainly in and out of 2nd and 4th positions, though with some upper 3rd position too. The 6-note slurs require control and there are some double stops.
The performer has to lead in and manage the ensemble with the pianist through a rit. and a pause.
Capriccietto can be found in the Best of Cello Classics, an album that is really useful through Grades 4-7.
