Jazz Rock

The syncopation in Jazz Rock provides a rhythmic challenge. The whole piece can be played in half and second positions, but it is probably not a piece to play when first learning these positions.

Osborne suggests the pieces can be played pizzicato or arco – even a mixture of both, and that a drum beat can be added. Younger players may have difficulty producing a good pizzicato sound if the left hand is not sufficiently strong to hold the string down. In such cases a judicious mixture of arco and pizzicato works wonders!
