Each duet is a neo-classical miniature pastiche. A Praludium (3 mins), Gavotte (2 mins) and a Waltz (2-3 mins). The violins play in close harmony. The Praludium is very lyrical while the dance movements have a somewhat ‘Romantic’ lilt.
Hungarian Dance is a good concert piece requiring mastery of the many techniques which come in quick succession. These need to be well embedded before playing the piece. It needs good co-ordination between the left and right hands. Hungarian Dance goes up to 5th position.
Playing this concerto helps consolidate many techniques including up bow staccato, double stops and chords. It is a very effective concert piece. It goes up to 5th position.
