Czardas

Just what you would expect from a piece with this title – an exciting slow introduction with tremolo accompaniment and then a lively section with fast and furious semiquavers. Syncopated rhythms abound. All parts get the tune at various points.

Viola 1 has some treble clef. Viola 3 and 4 are probably slightly easier than Grade 6.

ViolaFest Volume 2 has many more trios and quartets for viola ensemble or a mixed violin and viola group.

Ringing Bell

Ringing Bell uses open strings and 1st finger (except on the double bass where it uses 0-1-4).

Wonderful for bowing variations to introduce emerging bow skills such as bow division ‘strawberry raspberry’, spiccato bouncy bows, martelé bites, smooth legato bows and much more. A useful piece with which to introduce techniques like tremolo and sul pont.

Published for mixed groups with violin, viola, cello and bass. Good for individual lessons too!
