Beautiful piece that works really well on two cellos. Great for tenor clef work and rhythm (which looks much harder than it is). Also good for ensemble work, tonal control, period style and ornamentation. The sonata was originally written for two violins and keyboard.
A lively Baroque piece which is useful for developing a variety of articulations, neat string-crossings, position changes and secure off-beat entries.
A late Baroque/Early Classical Sonata with opportunities to develop articulation. All movements are useful at grades 5-6.
The slow movement is based on a Scottish Air and needs sustained bowing. The last movement has some rapid semiquavers that can sound somewhat impressive!
Can be performed as a duet with the second bass playing the left hand of the piano part.
